Our team is kind, enthusiastic, and motivated. We also think they’re some of the best engineers, researchers and designers on the planet. The team covers the whole engineering stack and includes mechanical engineers, electronic and electrical engineers, firmware and software engineers, bioengineers and even a physicist. With expertise spanning a multitude of disciplines and experience spanning even more companies and industries, it’s rare that we start a new project without hearing “I’ve done that before” from one of the team.
Tom has a broad technical and commercial background, with an impressive array of experience from new product development, capital raising and new business creation to medical devices, bioengineering and bioprocess development.
Tom’s technical background sits at the intersection of biology, medicine, and engineering; after completing his masters in Bioengineering, Tom has spent his career working in startups at the cutting edge of medtech and biotech. His career includes time at CMR Surgical and work as the first employee of Unicorn Biotechnologies in Sheffield, where Tom helped raise a $3.2m seed round and led hardware development for a new line of stem cell bioreactors.
Tom is enthusiastic, deeply motivated, and passionate about developing new businesses and technologies. His expertise in biotechnology and medical devices are invaluable cornerstones to our team and the commercial successes of our clients.
Andy is an industry-recognised (FIMechE, CEng) mechanical engineer with extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary technical teams to develop and deliver projects across several industries.
Alongside engineering positions in mechanical design and software engineering, Andy’s past work includes four years as Director of Engineering for Atlantic Pumps, an industrial OEM. There he led a team to conceptualise, design, and deliver complex electromechanical systems to market, before moving on to found Amodo and lead its technical delivery. Andy’s products have been distributed and installed around the world, from New Zealand to Canada (and a whole set of countries in between).
Andy’s expertise has been recognised with the accolade of Fellowship of The Institution of Mechanical Engineers. In 2023 Andy became the youngest Fellow of any Engineering Institution (ever!). He brings energy and ambition combined with deep domain expertise and demonstrable experience.
